Who this is for?

Loved ones who need a helping hand.

Life gets heavy. A cluttered, overwhelming room isn't a character flaw; it's what happens when time is short, resources are tight, or the weight of everything just becomes too much. We're here for all of it.

Just a neighbor who wants to help.

I kept hearing the same thing from families around me: "Mom's place has gotten so cluttered, but she won't let us touch anything." Or from seniors themselves: "I keep meaning to deal with that room, but I don't know where to start."

So I started Refresh with Kat to offer a helping hand. I come to your loved one's home and together we tackle a room that will make a big impact in their life. We sort through decades of belongings with care and without judgment, and by the end of the day, the room feels like theirs again.

Filming the transformation is what keeps this free. But honestly? It's also what makes it meaningful. These are stories worth telling: about lives fully lived, and the small act of reclaiming a space that got away from someone. I hope you'll let me tell yours.

How it works

Simple process. Real transformation.

1

Nominate

Fill out our short nominations form. Tell us about your loved one, which room you have in mind and why now feels like the right time. Begin here.

2

Connect

If it's a good fit, Kat will reach out personally to you to learn more about your loved one, their story and walk you through exactly what to expect.

3

The release

Before we begin, both you and your loved one will sign a media release so that everyone feels comfortable with the process. No surprises.

4

The refresh

Kat arrives and gets to work alongside your loved one. For one day they will tackle one room to sort, donate, and reorganize together.

5

The reveal

One room, completely transformed. Their story shared with care to celebrate them and give someone else hope of what their room could look like.

Common questions

A few things people usually ask

Is it really free?
Yes! We want this to be a gift to the community. Sharing the transformation online is what makes it possible — it's how we attract sponsors who cover the cost. There's no catch and no cost to you or your loved one.
Who is this for?
We especially love working with seniors — people who've lived in their homes for decades and whose spaces have quietly gotten away from them. That said, anyone going through a hard season or a big transition is welcome.
Which room do we work on?
Whichever one matters most. A bedroom that's become hard to navigate, a living room that stopped feeling like one, a storage area that's been closed off for years. You choose.
Does it have to be on camera?
Yes, filming is part of what makes this project sustainable and it's how we keep the service free. Everyone involved will review and sign a release form before anything is recorded to ensure they are comfortable with this exchange.
Can I nominate my parent or grandparent?
Absolutely — in fact, most nominations come from family. If you're not sure how to bring it up with them, we can help with that too.
Can I help along side my loved one?
Yes! We'd love to have you be a part of the transformation process and provide hands on help.
Can I nominate someone even if I don't live nearby?
Absolutely, we love that you are thinking about your loved one from far away.
Can I nominate myself?
Yes, and we love when people do. You know your home better than anyone.
What areas do you serve?
Currently the Walnut Creek Bay Area. If you're not sure whether we reach you, just ask — we'll do our best.
